WSR – Thank you for giving Wicked Spins Radio this interview, can you tell our readers a little bit about yourselves?

Every Hour Kills – We’re just a group of friends since pre-school who sit in a circle making elegant little dresses for little Russian babushka dolls.

WSR – You describe yourselves as Modern Melodic Metal, just what do you do to bring the modern sound to the melodic metal genre?

Every Hour Kills – I think we bring a lot of sass for a bunch of white boys. Seriously though I’d admonish people who are curious to just listen to some songs, as trying to describe music in words isn’t my forte.

WSR – You are inspired by metal but describe the electronic sounds as being like an orchestra to you as you like playing with those sounds.  Electronically what is the most bizarre sound you have created and what is your ultimate symphony in sound and in what songs can these be heard?

Every Hour Kills – There’s all kinds of crazy stuff going on in the layering! Some of the best stuff is just happy accidents; screwing around with chains of distortion and FX until you’ve mutated the sound into something new and crazy. The instrumental bonus tracks are a cool way to hear some of the madness going on.

WSR – Throw the metal inspirations to one side for the moment, you talk of electronic sounds and also of orchestras.  To you what is your favourite electronic based band and also what is your favourite piece of classical music if you have either?

Every Hour Kills – I don’t have a favorite of either genre really I just know that I enjoy them generally speaking! I’m just so happy you actually read my past interviews!

WSR – To get noticed you have to produce killer music and then everything else after that you have make sure every aspect of the band matches that quality, so how does your image do you feel fit in with that ideal?  In what way would you say your image compliments your music?

Every Hour Kills – It’s important but it’s not a HUGE concern for us personally, I just think the band should like a cohesive group and not some regular dicks from the hot dog line-up or some shit. It’s part of the entertainment value. We are all a bunch of dump trucks except Jerrod so we aren’t getting famous on our looks anyway! No neck tattoos either. In terms of art and whatnot though I definitely think having a consistent vibe and high level of quality is something I care about.

WSR – Many bands try and fail in the music industry, what would you say are some of the reasons why bands fail?

Every Hour Kills – Fuck if I know, I’m sure there are many reasons. Getting five dudes on the same page and working hard together at the same time is a level of impossibility akin to winning the lottery, for one thing. Then you throw in the most fucked up twisted business on earth besides human slavery, and the randomness / chaos / luck of general life and there you have it.

WSR – Sacha, one of your influences I note is Death.  What impact do you feel that Death had on the metal music scene and what did you feel when Chuck sadly passed away?

Every Hour Kills – Well they helped spearhead a new genre, so that’s pretty huge. They were one of my favorite bands throughout their entire evolution so of course I was devastated when Chuck died.

WSR – Do you feel that any band have picked up where the mighty Death finished and flourished into such an amazing band that Death were?

Every Hour Kills – No band can replace Death but there are still lots of great DM bands going today, Obscura being the most obvious comparison, but even bands like The Faceless or Aborted are still keeping DM fresh and exciting to me.

WSR – What was the inspiration for the video to Almost Human?  Might I just say it’s a work of art with lovely industrial/sci-fi tones which really compliment the song.

Every Hour Kills – Thanks! It was inspired by the lyrics and the director Doug Cook’s crazy genius mind.

WSR – How did you end up hooking up with Doug Cook for the video?

Every Hour Kills – I’ve known Doug for years and done a few other videos with him in other bands.

WSR – How did you feel Doug’s visions for the video fit in with your visualisations for Almost Human?

Every Hour Kills – It fits very well I think, it’s an energetic song so a live performance style video was fitting yet it also brings in the techno elements.

WSR – Tell us more about the Snowshoe porn website?

Every Hour Kills – It’s still in development but I’ll say this: WATCH OUT PORNHUB

WSR – Thank you so much for giving us this interview, is there anything you would like to add?

Every Hour Kills – Play guitar, stay in school and don’t fap too much kids.
