Nick Marsh, vocalist for Flesh for Lulu RIP
It is with great sadness that we at Wicked Spins Radio learn of sad passing of Nick Marsh vocalist and guitarist of Flesh for Lulu who lost his courageous fight against cancer this morning. Our deepest thoughts and sympathy goes out to Nick’s family his partner Katharine Blake and their two daughters.
He was a friend and brother to many and others an inspiring – talented songwriter who touched the hearts of many. Coming from London’s legendary Goth Club The Batcave, Nick formed Flesh for Lulu in 1982 with Rocco Barker (guitar), James Mitchell (drums), Derek Greening (keyboards)m and Kevin Mills (bass). Combining glam rock with post-punk energy the band soon became a hotly tipped live act to see on the UK underground scene. Their track “I go Crazy” was picked for the soundtrack to John Hughes film “Some kind of wonderful”. In 1990 the Flesh disbanded and Nick went on to form Gigantic releasing one album “Disenchanted”
In 2000 Nick reformed Flesh for Lulu with Rocco for a few live dates and in 2013 Nick brought Flesh back with a new lineup featuring Will Crewdson (Guitar) Mark Bishop ( Drums )
Keith McAndrew (Bass) playing a string of dates including a show for us at Klub Wicked.
A very active songwriter and musician Nick also performed with is partner Katharine Blake for “From the Deep” as well as Guitarist for The Urban Voodoo Machine.
