WSR – Thank you so much for giving Wicked Spins Radio this interview, can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I make Monster Metal with my band Doyle.<\/p>\n

WSR – Before Doyle there was Gorgeous Frankenstein. Why did you decide to start Doyle and put Gorgeous Frankenstein to rest and what is the main difference between the two groups?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 There really isn\u2019t a difference. It was the same band at the end. My singer Alex texted me and said give me a call with you have a chance, I got an idea. So since he\u2019s insane, I had to pull the car over and hear what he had to say. I texted him immediately because I wanted a laugh, cause he\u2019s fucked up. He was like you\u2019ve got to change the name of the band, so I said go on\u2026 and he\u2019s like lets change it to Doyle. I said, are you sure? And he said \u201cyes\u201d so I changed it that day. The name Gorgeous Frankenstein didn\u2019t work because I didn\u2019t have a million dollars to promote it. It\u2019s kinda like the KISS rule, keep it simple stupid, because if you make people think, its not gonna work. I put my face on the album cover, so people who walk past it will know who I am immediately. And it works great.<\/p>\n

WSR – You have just released Abominator which in my mind is something pretty special, can you tell our readers more about Abominator and who else is involved on this amazing album?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 Well, we didn\u2019t have a title, and I was just driving down the street and I wasn’t even talking to myself, like usually do when I\u2019m in the car by myself, and I just blurted out \u201cabominator,\u201d so I immediately pulled the car over and I texted Alex and said what do you think about that? He said great lets write a song. So the next song I sent him was that, and it was the last song on the record and he just nailed it like in a week it was done like that. We have DR.CHUD from the Misfits playing drums, right now we don\u2019t have a bass player and Alex Story from Cancerslug. I started writing with him. I wrote like 12 songs, I call them musical compositions. I wrote, arranged, recorded and drum programed everything. I write all three instruments but I didn\u2019t have anyone to finish them. I have a hard time writing a melody over something that I write, cause I just see myself playing it and I just cant get out of it. Its like I\u2019m stuck, so I\u2019m like who do I know who\u2019s a fucking great writer? I immediately thought of him, called him up, ironically enough he\u2019s walking into a Danzig show in Houston. I said, do you wanna write with me? He said fuck yeah send me everything. So I sent him like three songs so that he wouldn’t be overwhelmed or just send me quantity instead of quality, and one of them was Mark of the Beast. He sent that back in two days just like it is on the record. I was just like this is exactly what I wanted.<\/p>\n

WSR – Doyle you are instantly recognizable, how important is your image to you and apart from the makeup what would you say is the most important part of your look?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013Besides the makeup, I would say it\u2019s my hair.<\/p>\n

WSR – Doyle you are not only a legendary guitarist but you have other things on the go, can you tell us about the Made In Hell Hot Sauce please?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I just had some with my seitan. It\u2019s really good. I\u2019m getting more of it sent to me so I can throw it in my diet, because it burns fat. It\u2019s a vegan sauce, you don\u2019t have to refrigerate it and it\u2019s awesome. I was looking for a guy to make it and my cousin Chris got online and found this guy. I met him at one of the shows that we were doing. He brought me some samples, A B and C and we sampled them I said I like this one but I added some oregano in mine and some basil and you know made it my own.<\/p>\n

WSR – Two ex members of The Misfits are in Doyle, so gents what are your most fondest memories of The Misfits days and what elements of The Misfits manifest themselves in Doyle?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 Doyle is exactly the same. Whatever you’ve seen there, you\u2019re gonna see here cause that’s all there is. There is nothing else. Fondest memory? I dunno. The most fun part is hanging out with all the guys you know on the bus and going and seeing stuff. Just funny shit happening that you just piss your pants. You know you laugh so fucking hard. It\u2019s like a bunch of mental kids at camp, being on the bus. Grown up mental kids that are just nuts.<\/p>\n

WSR – What is everyone\u2019s favourite horror movie, horror monster and what is your favourite era of horror?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I think I like the 30\u2019s believe it or not. I like the Frankenstein and the Wolfman, well Wolfman was in the 40\u2019s I think. But King Kong, that is my favorite. King Kong is my favorite beast because every time I\u2019m with a girl that’s what I feel like. It\u2019s like the old beauty and the beast story, but in that one, beauty kills the beast at the end you know. So I feel like I\u2019m just waiting for that to happen you know, all the time. I feel like I\u2019m up there getting shot at with the airplanes. That’s me.<\/p>\n

WSR – Doyle is Doyle, completely unique, musically strong and immense.\u00a0 But what do you say to those people who would obviously compare you to The Misfits, in your mind what sets you apart from earlier musical ventures?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 The music is heavier and actually it\u2019s not more physical to play. Its more mental to play which is a bad idea for me because the physical it a lot easier for me. It\u2019s heavier, just heavier man. I think it’s a step up actually. I think it\u2019ll appeal to a lot more people. We call it Monster metal over here. We don’t call it horror punk because horror punk is kinda rockabilly, you know and that\u2019s not my bag. It\u2019s crazy because I play that Misfits style. That’s how I play, but I don’t write like that. It\u2019s very bizarre to me.<\/p>\n

WSR – I have to admit Abominator is something very special and an album I really like, but what makes Abominator special for you?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I wrote all of the music, you know. And I told everybody when we started it that I\u2019m writing all of the music. I\u2019m playing it, so I\u2019m writing it and that’s it. Nobody else is writing it and Alex is writing all of the vocal melodies and all of the words and that’s the end of the story. Its cool to play all songs that you wrote. You know what I mean, you wrote that, its cool.<\/p>\n

WSR – Do you feel there is anything you could have done to improve Abominator?\u00a0 I personally don\u2019t think there is but as a musician you sometimes think there is something you would have liked to do differently after its been released.<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 No, actually no. We already finished the second the second one, we just finished it. I\u2019m so sick of it. I have been recording for two straight years and I don’t wanna go back in that room for nothing. The only thing we could have done differently was to have studio musician record it and it would have been done a lot quicker.<\/p>\n

WSR – Tell us one thing about yourself that people don\u2019t necessarily know or realise?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I make my own guitars that I play, I just became a vegetarian and I can\u2019t remember 5 fucking seconds ago.<\/p>\n

WSR – Doyle you are true legendary man in the music world, how would you hope to inspire today\u2019s musicians that quote you as their inspiration<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 I try to tell people, I didn\u2019t sit in my room and learn all these scales and G clefts and all that horseshit because I didn\u2019t really give a fuck. To me, shredders who just play blazing solos, they\u2019re a dime a dozen, there\u2019s a million of them. There\u2019s only one of me, you know what I mean and I know two chords. All the songs that are on the records that I\u2019m on, that’s all I know. You don\u2019t have to be the greatest musician in the world, you gonna have great songs. And I\u2019ve been fortunate to work with Glenn Danzig, one of the greatest singer-song writers of all time and I got to play great songs. Now I\u2019m working with Alex, the same thing, one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time. And my third favorite singer is my girl Alissa (White-Gluz), and I\u2019m writing a song with her right now and I can\u2019t wait for her to finish it, cause its gonna be awesome.<\/p>\n

WSR – Doyle you are a muscular man, how do you keep trim when you are on tour?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 We bring weights or we go to the gym.<\/p>\n

WSR – You have tattoos, now all of my tattoos can tell a story about when and why I got them done.\u00a0 Do you have a certain tattoo that you can tell a little story about, if so what\u2019s the tattoo and what\u2019s the story?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 The ones that tell a story, I got them covered up. The tattoos on my fingers on my right hand are my children\u2019s names and I got a really shitty Crimson Ghost on my middle finger of my left hand, and I got a pretty shitty Misfits tattoo on my shoulder. That’s pretty much it. I\u2019ve got shitty tattoos<\/p>\n

WSR – The devilock is something that fans copy, what is the best and worst devilock you have ever seen?<\/p>\n

Doyle \u2013 Mine is the best. I can\u2019t say the worst because that’s just not right.<\/p>\n
